Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith

disney roller coaster

Disney isn’t always known for its thrill rides but it should be. By far, one of the best roller coasters I have ever been on is Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Tucked in the shadows of the Tower of Terror is the amazing Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster. When it first opened it was touted as the first time Disney turned guests upside down on American soil. With three inversions & a corkscrew, it certainly does turn you upside down! The ride starts as you enter G-Force Records to see Aerosmith (or that guy from American Idol, as my daughter says) in the recording studio. They are on their way to a show but feel bad leaving all their fans behind. They have their manager call for a limo, a super stretch, so everyone can rush across town to catch the show. The limo is parked in the alley out back.

The ride car resembles a limo & each seat has five speakers. Each limo has a different soundtrack.1QKLIMO plays “Nine Lives”, UGOBABE plays “Love in an Elevator” & “Walk This Way” BUHBYE” plays Young Lust”, “F.I.N.E.*” & “Love in an Elevator”, H8TRFFC” plays Back in the Saddle” & “Dude (Looks Like a Lady)” and my favorite, 2FAST4U plays “Sweet Emotion”. The music really makes the ride.

The initial launch is amazing! The limo goes 0 – 57 miles per hour in 2.8 seconds right into the first loop. You cruise through the L.A. freeways to get to the concert, passing by neon signs. Those signs are the only light inside the ride building. You end backstage, red carpet and all.

This ride has a 48” height restriction. If you are traveling with young children, take advantage of the rider switch option right at the entrance or grab Fast Passes through your My Disney Experience account for anyone who is tall enough. There is also a single rider option for this ride. If kids aren’t sure, they can change their minds all the way up to boarding the limo. This has always been one of my favorites but I still get nervous watching the cars squeal away at the beginning. Almost enough to turn around…but they I remember just how fun it is!!

If you don’t mind a little extra wait, ask to be seated in the front row. If it isn’t too busy, they will set your party aside and lead you to the front when it is your turn. Nothing beats the front row of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster.

This is truly an awesome roller coaster, fully loaded with the Disney attention to detail. A must-see attraction at Hollywood Studios!
