Watching your child recognize familiar Disney characters and stories and the thrill of seeing them come alive before us is part of what drives millions of people to visit Disney Parks every year. So if you have a little one who perhaps is limited in their TV/movie watching, what are the stories that are highly represented in the parks? Here is a list of my top Disney television and movies you will want to share with your children before visiting. It is not necessary to be familiar with all of these stories, and some are not suitable for all ages, but knowing many of these will certainly enhance your Disney vacation experience. It’s difficult to put them in any particular order but the list generally targets the youngest guests and makes its way up towards shows more appropriate for tweens.
Warning: As any good story goes, the protagonist must have a challenge to overcome. Disney has a rather infamous reputation of tainting the role of parents in many movies either by making them truly evil or having their tragic and untimely demise an intricate part of the story. For these reasons, I always suggest you screen the movies first and when necessary, watch with your child with remote control in hand should you feel it necessary to gloss over some parts!
So settle in with a bowl of popcorn as you begin your Disney Character Education and enjoy!
