The best way to celebrate any of life’s special events is to celebrate at Disney. From birthdays to anniversaries, from graduations to family reunions, from engagements to weddings, Disney loves a good celebration. There are many ways to make a special day even grander at Disney but one that is near and dear to my heart is the specialty Fireworks cruise. My wonderful husband, and fellow Mouseke-agent, Mike, proposed to me on a Wishes fireworks cruise. It was private, relaxing, and definitely a night I will never forget.
Basically, a fireworks cruise allows you experience either Wishes! at Magic Kingdom or Illuminations: Reflections of Earth at Epcot from the comfort of your own private pontoon boat. Each cruise comes with assorted snacks, soft drinks and of course, a captain. For Wishes! cruises, you will meet your captain at either the Contemporary, Polynesian, or Grand Floridian marina about an hour prior to the fireworks. From there you will sail around Bay Lake before settling in front of Magic Kingdom. In all honesty, this is the BEST place to watch the fireworks. You are centered (for the most part) in front of the Castle without having to crane your neck around the people in front of you. If you get the Premium package, you have the music piped in to your boat.
For an Illuminations cruise, you will set sail from Bayside marina at the Beach Club/Yacht Club and cruise around Crescent Lake before settling in under the International Gateway bridge for fireworks. This, also, is the best view around. You can see the entire show, including the rotating LED Earth globe, the gorgeous water fountains and most of the World Showcase.
You can’t go wrong with either cruise. If you can swing it, I suggest investing in this awesome experience. It will definitely be worth it and something your family will be talking about for a very long time. To book one of these cruises, contact your favorite Mouseke-agent or call (407) WDW-PLAY. The pricing below is subject to change but these are typical prices for a Fireworks cruise. Fireworks cruises can be booked 180 days in advance of the cruise. Please note, these sell out very, very quickly.
Wishes! Fireworks cruise
- Basic – 21′ Pontoon (does not include the music piped in) seats up to 8 guests – $292.88
- Premium – 25′ Pontoon (includes soundtrack music) seats up to 10 guests – $346.13
Illuminations Firework cruise – $325 plus tax (seats up to 10 guests)
Please note, at this time, you cannot book just “spots” on the cruises, it is all or nothing. The price above are a grand total for the entire boat. While Disney will not let you book just part of the boat, there are several places online you can go to either find spots on existing cruises or find others to share your boat, if you have the space and want to reduce your costs. Just do a quick google search or ask your MousekeAgent.
