How To Use FastPass+

Save time and skip the standby queue lines for attractions and entertainment you love the most! Disney’s FastPass+ system is one of the biggest advantages of the MyMagic+ program allowing you to reserve a time to experience Fastpass+ attractions and entertainment in advance of your visit to Walt Disney World. You can now choose from more than double the previous number of experiences on the previously used paper ticket system and for the first time ever FastPass+ service includes select Character Greetings, shows, parades and fireworks.

How does it work?

Book your Walt Disney World vacation package or buy your park tickets in advance and create your online My Disney Experience account. Once you’ve linked your resort reservation and valid park admission, you have the ability to reserve 3 FastPass+ selections for one park per day in advance. Onsite Disney resort guests can start planning 60 days in advance while Annual Passholders and offsite guests can make their reservations up to 30 days in advance. There is no charge for using FastPass+, it’s already included in your ticket, package or Annual Pass admission cost.

When you arrive at the attraction, simply tap your MagicBand on the RFID reader and the system will scan them, allowing you access if it is the correct time.  After you use all of the initial 3 FastPass+ experiences on the day of your visit (or your arrival windows have passed), you can select one additional FastPass+ experience to use that same day (based on availability). The additional FastPass+ experience is a rolling FastPass+ experience, each time you use an additional FastPass+ experience, you can select a new one.

Additional FastPass+ selections must be made at a FastPass+ kiosk within the same park as the FastPass+ experience that you wish to select. If you plan on visiting a different park that same day you can be make a selection at a different park from your previous selections. You may not get multiple FastPass+ for the same attractions in one day. FastPass+ reservations can also be made or modified the day of your visit by visiting one of the FastPass+ kiosks or by accessing the My Disney Experience app on a mobile device. Make sure to allow plenty of time for travel within the parks and around Walt Disney World property when making FastPass+ reservations. Keep in mind other planned activities such as dining reservations or entertainment schedules and use the interactive park maps in the My Disney Experience app for exact locations of each attraction.

I am trying to understand the fastpass using “My DisneyExperience” and Magic bands. We are planning 6 day ticket with park hopper option. Can we only plan our fast passes for one day, 3 selections and have to wait until those are used to plan for next day/next park? With park hopper option, after making fastpass choices for one park, does that mean we forfeit fastpass choices if we go to a different park?

@Sarah, If your hotel reservation is linked with your Disney account, and shows up under your My Disney Experience reservations, then you should be able to book all of your days 60 days in advance of your check in date. You are limited to 3 per day, but you should be able to book all of your days at one time.

Right now you can only make fastpass reservations at one park per day. Once you use those first three, if you hop to another park, you can get additional ones at the second (or third or fourth) park in one day.

We are not staying at a Disney resort. But thank you for a better explanation of the fastpass. Maybe you can help with an answer to another question. My daughter and I each have a Disney account. I have already booked some dining reservations. My daughter is purchasing all our tickets. Can tickets from her account and dinner reservations from my account both be synced to the Magic Bands so everything will be in one place? And if so, will all this information be available in the ” My Disney Experience ” app?

@Sarah – You will need to link your two accounts together by using the “Family and Friends” feature.
