With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, couples will be brainstorming ways to treat themselves and celebrate together. Walt Disney World is wonderful for the kids, but it offers plenty of romantic escapes for the adults as well. If you had a Disney date night to plan, how would you spend it? Here are a few ideas…
For a date night out on the town, head to Downtown Disney. With just the two of you, you can slow down and take the time to admire the windows of Downtown Disney’s eclectic shops, linger over a meal at one of the many delicious restaurants, or take in live music and performances at Raglan Road or House of Blues. Cirque du Soleil has an exclusive show, La Nouba, to enjoy as well.
If it’s entertainment you’re after, the Boardwalk is another fantastic place for couples to be. The dueling pianos at Jellyrolls and the Atlantic Dance Hall nightclub offer nightlife fun for guests over 21. Magicians and performers set up shop on the boards after dark. Grab some cotton candy – or a margarita from Joe’s! – and enjoy the street festival atmosphere. You have a variety of choices for fine dining; the Flying Fish is the Boardwalk’s signature restaurant and features a 5-course wine dinner at the chef’s counter.
Many of the deluxe resort hotels have signature fine dining options ideal for a cozy meal for two. You’ll find exotic African dishes at Boma and Jiko at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, while guests at the Contemporary Resort’s California Grill can sample sushi and more on the fifteenth floor, the vista of the Magic Kingdom spread before them. With no fewer than three upscale signature restaurants – Citricos, Narcoossee’s, and Victoria and Albert’s – the Grand Floridian Resort is the perfect place for a fancy romantic meal.
Even if you don’t want to splurge on dinner, visiting the resorts to explore the beautiful lobby areas and grounds and grab a drink at the bar is a great way to spend a date night at Disney! Another popular pick for couples is a leisurely evening stroll around World Showcase at Epcot. One of the most beautiful places ever at night. You can sample international cocktail concoctions and catch some of the acts – a Mariachi band in Mexico, drummers in Japan, acrobats in China, the best of British pop music in England. Don’t forget to watch Illuminations with your loved one by your side. The best dates should always end with fireworks!
