Walt Disney World will be opening their most anticipated resort ever in 2022, the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser. However, this isn’t a Star Wars-themed resort hotel. Many people have been hoping for a Walt Disney World value resort where everything is Star Wars 24/7/365. Unfortunately, or maybe, fortunately, that isn’t what we will be getting with the Galactic Starcruiser. Right now there are still a lot of unknowns surrounding the new Galactic Starcruiser hotel, so much of what it will or won’t be is speculation. There is quite a bit that we do know, however. Here is a list of  what we know and do not know about the new Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser:

What We Know About Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser

Status Date: September 30, 2021

Galaxy Starcruiser Halcyon

1. Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser Location

The new Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser will be located directly south of Disney’s Hollywood Studios. As you can see on this map, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, located in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, can be seen directly North of the new resort.

The resort will be accessible from the South entrance to Disney’s Hollywood Studios parking lot, and there will not be any parking at the resort itself but will use a section of the Hollywood Studios parking lot. Valet parking will be included with your stay.

2. Star Wars: Galactic Cruises prices

Finally, as of August 4, 2021, some ideas of prices have been released, and they are not far off from the estimates we have deduced months ago. The Halcyon is an exclusive, first-class experience on the level of a Disney Cruise, if the Disney Cruise ship only held a few hundred people or so. It will include all food, entertainment, experiences and access to Batuu. Pricing starts at $749 per guest per night, so a family of four would be at least $5,999 for the 2-night stay. These prices are for a standard cabin during the weekday and during a normally inexpensive time of the year, so surely prices for other cabins (see below) and other times of the year will be higher.

Price based on a cabin room at Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser. The number of packages available is limited. All packages are a 2-night experience. Package includes entry to Disney’s Hollywood Studios for one (1) day on day 2 of your experience. This admission ticket expires at midnight prior to departure date and is nonupgradable, nontransferable, nonrefundable and excludes activities/events separately priced. Package includes two (2) breakfasts and two (2) dinner meals per Guest, with gratuity included for dinners; and one (1) quick-service meal consisting of one (1) entrée and either one (1) nonalcoholic beverage or, if age 21 or over, one (1) alcoholic beverage (where available), or, for Guests ages 3 to 9, one (1) combo meal from the children’s menu offerings, to be used in the theme park only. Entertainment and experiences onboard subject to change without notice or liability.

Currently, this is all we have for pricing, no exact pricing for individual dates is available yet or for other room types.

3. Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser will not be a “hotel”

Unfortunately, the Galactic Starcruiser will not be a hotel like all of the other Disney resorts at Walt Disney World. You will not be able to check-in and stay there for as long as you want. All stays at the Galactic Starcruiser will be 2 nights only, no longer and no shorter. It is better to think of a stay at the Galactic Starcruiser more like a cruise than a hotel. When you arrive you will be transported to the Halcyon starcruiser floating high above Florida via a launch pod and will arrive in the Atrium, the hub of the ship. You will then be shown to your cabin, similar to the staterooms aboard a Disney Cruise. From the moment you arrive, the experience will be completely immersive, your stay will be planned for you from arrival on board the starcruiser until your departure back to earth. Check-in for all guests will be between 1 and 4 PM, no exceptions, and all guests will disembark by 10AM when returning to earth.

Atrium aboard the Starcruiser Halcyon

If you have ever been on a Disney Cruise and stayed in an inside stateroom with virtual portholes, you will recognize your stateroom aboard the Galactic Starcruiser. You will not have a view of a theme park or parking lot from your stateroom window (or other windows onboard), your view will be of the galaxy, and possibly passing planets, spaceships and maybe even random surprises from time to time.

4. There are going to be several cabin types on board the Halcyon

Similar to a Disney Cruise, more than one type of cabin will be available to book on board the Halcyon. Of course, the bigger the cabin, the higher the price. Please note that none of the cabins connect, so your family must fit in one cabin or split up.

The Standard Cabin sleeps 4 to 5 passengers, has 1 queen bed, 2 bunk beds and a pull-down single bed.
The Galaxy Class Suite sleeps 4 with a queen bed and 2 pull-down single beds as well as a living room area.
The Grand Captian Suite sleeps 8, has 2 queen beds, 2 bunk beds and 2 pull-down single beds. It also has a large living area, 2 bathrooms and 3 windows.

5. You will enjoy an Excursion to a nearby planet, Batuu

You will not return to earth during your two-night stay, but you will be making one stop. Disney’s Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser will have direct access to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disney’s Hollywood Studios and the mythical planet of Batuu. According to the current information, your stay will also include a one-day ticket to Hollywood Studios (no reservation needed) which will give you access to Galaxy’s Edge. Your stay on Batuu will also include one-time access to both Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance and Millenium Falcon attractions. Based on the current sample schedule, you will have access to both attractions in the morning and then return to the Halcyon after lunch on Batuu.

6. Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser Restaurants

Crown of Corellia Dining Room

Remember, your stay here is an immersive experience. You aren’t allowed to wander around other parks or go to Disney Springs for dinner (and why would you want to?!?). You will be completely taken care of once onboard, including food and drinks.

  • Crown of Corellia Dining Room – This will be your home for meals onboard. This restaurant will serve breakfast, lunch and dinner to all guests staying on that Halcyon.
  • The Sublight Lounge – An all-age retreat featuring drinks and games for all passengers.

Walt Disney World has announced that your stay onboard the Halcyon will include 2 breakfast and 2 dinner meals per guest, with gratuity included for dinners. Lunch while on Batuu will be included too (Quick Service Credits). Dining will also be similar to the Disney Cruise, where you will choose between early or late dining times when booking your stay, and you will likely be seated with other galactic passengers for meals.

During dinner in the Crown and Corellia Dining Room, you can opt to sit at the captain’s table for an additional fee ($30 per person, everyone in your party must opt to participate). The fee gets you extra courses as well as a prime location in the dining room.

7. Limited Capacity aboard the Halcyon

There are only 100 cabins onboard the Halcyon, split between the three room types. With all stays being 2 nights, Disney should load about 50 cabins each day, so somewhere around 200 people per day. As you can see below, the sample itinerary will not be the same for all 200 people, your itinerary will be customized so that your group has full access to everything aboard the Halcyon.

8. What you do when you are onboard the Galactic Starcruiser

Walt Disney World has been kind enough to provide us with a sample itinerary. This of course will change depending on dining times, changes to the schedule, etc. It gives us a good idea of all that will be covered during your stay (including the Spectacular Finale, which honestly, sounds spectacular!).

9. What to bring and what to wear on the Galactic Starcruiser

Walt Disney World has released a list of what to bring and what to wear. The highlight is that guests are allowed to bring their own star wars attire to wear during the adventures. Disney-produced attire will be available for purchase onboard or in advance on ShopDisney.com.

10. Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser Opening Date

Originally, Walt Disney World was aiming to open this hotel for its 50th anniversary on October 1, 2021, but like many new attractions throughout the parks, they aren’t going to make it. Today (September 30, 2021), Walt Disney World announced that the new “hotel” will open on March 1, 2022!
