Hey there, Mousekefriends! As many of my friends and clients know, I’m somewhat of a runner (meaning, I like running, but I’m not the best at it!) and actually enjoy taking an early morning jog – even at Disney World! As a matter of fact, an early morning jog on one of the many running trails is one of my favorite free activities, and I’ve got my a few great jogging trails just for you!
Epcot Resort Area
The first trail actually has a several different variations around the Epcot area resorts. We almost always include a stay at the Boardwalk Area during our trips, so this trail is one that I’ve used many times. As you can see on the map below, there are a ton of running paths so you can change it up from day to day. Running on the Boardwalk in the early morning hours is really very peaceful.
Disney’s Pop Century Resort
The second trail is has actually creeped up into my top three, especially now that the Art of Animation has been completed. The Pop Century Resort is one of my favorite Value Resorts, and an early morning run around Hourglass Lake is a really fun way to start the day. I also like to run through the Art of Animation Resort, just to check out all of the scenery.
Disney’s Contemporary Resort
This third trail is actually my new favorite. I recently discovered it during one of my trips last year. The map below is great if you want to stay on the resort, but my favorite part of this run actually deviates from the map. Once you run around Bay Lake Tower and head towards the front of the resort, take a right on the path towards the Magic Kingdom. Cross the street and run on the walkway in front of the park. Keep going until you pass the park (you’ll hear Disney music!) and head towards the monorail station. Just off to the left, near the boat launch for the Grand Floridian, you’ll see a pathway. If you are running within an hour of park opening, this path will be open and it allows you to run along the Seven Seas Lagoon for a little ways. Besides running through Sleeping Beauty’s castle during the Tinkerbell Half Marathon earlier this year, running past the Magic Kingdom in the early morning hours is probably one of the best feelings!
Each Disney Resort has a jogging map available with suggested routes, just pick it up at the front desk when you check in so you can plan your runs in advance.
