In what might be Disney World’s most unlucky restaurant space, a new restaurant is about to open. Originally this grand space on the Boardwalk featured Spoodles, my all time favorite Disney restaurant, a truly hidden gem. In 2009, Spoodles was unceremoniously shut down to open Cat Cora’s Kouzzina, which honestly, wasn’t too bad, but definitely was not Spoodles.
Welcome Trattoria al Forno, a new Italian themed restaurant on the Boardwalk. Trattoria al Forno will feature classic Italian cuisine including handcrafted mozzarella made daily, fresh cavatelli pasta and pizzas baked in wood-burning ovens. Remember, Disney also operates Tutto Italia and Via Napoli in Epcot that are both very well received. Typically, the food at non-theme park restaurants are a bit better than the restaurants inside the parks, so I look forward to see what Disney has to offer.
Trattoria al Forno will be open 7:30 – 11:00 AM for breakfast and 5:00 – 10:00 PM for dinner, lunch is not planned at this time. No word has been given on the Pizza Window, if it will be incorporated into the restaurants, as it was when Spoodles was there, or if it will stay the same.
Trattoria al Forno opens December 18, 2014, and you can start making reservations as of October 21, 2014. Trattoria al Forno will be available on the Disney Dining plan, one table service credit per person for either breakfast or dinner.
